PrestaShop CRM: your customers and their orders flow into Odoo

A PrestaShop CRM really pays off when it fills itself: every customer who buys from your shop shows up in it with their company, their VAT number, their addresses and what they've ordered, without anyone typing it in. If you run your business on Odoo, or are about to, you already have that CRM: it's one of its apps, in Odoo Community too, the edition with no licence fee. The Odoo PrestaShop Connector feeds it your shop's data.

Tuesday, ten in the morning. Sarah calls you. She buys the cleaning supplies for a chain of dental clinics, and she wants a price for two hundred boxes of gloves. While she talks, you open PrestaShop to see what she ordered last time, then the spreadsheet where you log your calls, then your inbox, to dig out the quote from the spring. By the time you have it all, you've already told her "I'll call you back".

A CRM means having all of that on one screen, with the next step written down: "call Sarah on Thursday with the price".

What is a CRM, and why would an online shop want one?

CRM stands for customer relationship management: the place where you see each customer with what they've bought from you, what you've talked about, the deals in progress and what needs doing next.

If you sell to consumers who buy on their own, your shop's customer page is enough. A CRM pays off when there's a conversation before the sale:

  • You sell to businesses, with large orders, their own prices and payment on terms.
  • You send quotes and have to remember which ones are waiting for an answer.
  • You have salespeople, and each one looks after their own customers.

Does PrestaShop come with a CRM?

It comes with a good customer page. Under Customers you see each one's orders, carts, the products they've bought, their addresses, their messages and a private note for your team.

It's designed for what happens in the shop. Whatever happens outside it—the phone order, the quote sent by email, the call you still owe someone—ends up somewhere else, and that's where you lose the thread. If you already run your invoicing or your warehouse on Odoo, it makes sense for the CRM to be Odoo's too: that's where your customers already are.

What does Odoo's CRM include?

CRM is just another app in Odoo Community. You switch it on like any other, and it works hand in hand with Sales:

  • A board of opportunities by stage—New, Qualified, Proposition, Won—that you drag from one column to the next.
  • Scheduled activities for each person on your team: call, write, prepare an offer.
  • The quote comes straight out of the opportunity at the click of a button, and stays linked to it.

And what matters most for a shop: the customer in the CRM is the same contact Odoo invoices. There are no two lists to reconcile.

What do you see in Odoo for each of your shop's customers?

With the connector, every customer who buys from your shop lands in Odoo as a contact, automatically:

  • Company or individual. If they buy with a company in their billing address, the company comes in with its VAT number; if not, the person does.
  • Their addresses for billing and delivery, inside their record, with their email, their phone number and their language.
  • No duplicates. It recognises them by VAT number and email: a returning customer doesn't show up twice, and if they buy for two companies, each order goes to the right one.
  • Every order comes in as a sales order in their name, with the reference the customer sees. On their record you have their orders, what you've invoiced them and, with CRM, their opportunities.
  • What they write on the order—"deliver after 5 pm"—is kept as an internal note on that sales order.

What about the customers you already had? When you set it up, the initial import brings into Odoo the customers with an account in your shop, with their addresses, including those who signed up but haven't bought yet: exactly the ones a salesperson wants to call. Before it does, it shows you what it's going to create and what it's going to link.

How does each customer reach the right salesperson?

Through the customer groups you already use in PrestaShop. For each group, you tell Odoo what a new contact gets: salesperson, tags, payment terms and fiscal position; and for their orders, the sales team and the pricelist.

For example: your shop's "Businesses" group comes into Odoo with the "Business" tag and Laura as salesperson. Every order from those customers arrives in Laura's name, and in the CRM you filter by that tag when you only want to work with companies.

If your salespeople buy in the shop on behalf of their customers, each one's customer list can come from Odoo, as we explain in orders on behalf of the customer for your sales reps.

What about when a customer asks for a quote?

There are two ways, and in both the CRM and the shop work together:

  1. The quote starts in Odoo. Your salesperson prepares it from the opportunity and sends it. If the customer has already bought from your shop and you have the portal switched on, they also see it in their account, with "View and accept": they sign it or pay it, and Odoo turns it into an order on its own. There's more on this in everything the Odoo PrestaShop connector does.
  2. The quote starts in the shop. With B2B Quotes for PrestaShop, the request the customer makes in your shop appears in Odoo as a draft quotation, with the customer and their salesperson. If they later ask for changes or turn the offer down, their salesperson gets an activity in Odoo.

What do you need to decide?

  • Where your Odoo lives. The connector is installed inside Odoo, so it goes on Odoo.sh or on your own server. Odoo Online, the one you sign up for on Odoo's website, has the same CRM but doesn't allow third-party modules: if that's where you are, your database can be moved to either of the other two.
  • Who has the final say on contact details. By default the shop only fills in what's missing, so it doesn't overwrite what your team looks after in Odoo; it can also always write them, or never.
  • Whether your customers see their Odoo quotes and invoices in their shop account. The portal comes switched off, and you turn it on whenever you like.

How much does a PrestaShop CRM with Odoo cost?

The CRM in Odoo Community has no licence fee: on your own server, you only pay for the server. The connector depends on how you want it:

  • Just the connector: €399 for one Odoo version and one shop, and we help you until the first order invoices itself.
  • With updates and support: €598, with the first year of new versions and priority support; after that, €199 a year. If you skip a year, the connector keeps working.
  • Installed and set up: €988, with everything above. We set it up in your Odoo and your shop, and test a real order with you.

Each extra shop is a €99 licence. In the product box below you'll see it in your currency.

For your technical team

The Odoo addon (Community 17 to 20) only needs Sales; with CRM installed, Odoo automatically adds the module that links opportunities and quotations. Customers and addresses are contacts linked to their shop ID, matched by VAT number, email, phone or name, whichever keys you tick. On the PrestaShop side, from 1.7.6 to 9.2, a dedicated module, without opening the webservice.

Where do I start?

Look at which customer groups you have in your shop and which salesperson you'd give each one to. With that, the first order that comes into Odoo arrives with its customer, its salesperson and its tag. All of this is built into the Odoo PrestaShop Connector, which we use every day in our own shop: its product page is right below, with what's included, compatibility and price. And everything it syncs beyond customers is in the Odoo PrestaShop connector, point by point.

Odoo is a trademark of Odoo S.A. We are not an Odoo partner or reseller: we make the piece that connects it to PrestaShop.
