The Directive requires the withdrawal process to be documented. Every status change is recorded in PrestaShop with date, responsible employee and internal notes — perfect proof for any inspection by consumer authorities.
Pending review
Request received. The customer gets an automatic acknowledgement on a durable medium with exact content, date and time — compliance with Art. 11a §3.
In review
The team assesses the request from PrestaShop. An internal reason not visible to the customer can be added. Full case tracking.
Accepted
Withdrawal approved. Optional automatic change of the PrestaShop order status. Customer notified. Refund period: 14 days from notification.
Rejected
Request denied (out of period, excluded product, etc.). Automatic notification with reason. Everything documented for possible claims.
Awaiting return
The customer has 14 days to return the product from the withdrawal notification. Status visible to the logistics team in PrestaShop.
Product received
Goods in the warehouse. From this moment, 14 legal days to proceed with the refund. The system records the exact reception date.
Refund pending
Product verified. The refund is in progress. The customer may receive a notification that the refund is on its way.
Closed
Case resolved and archived in PrestaShop. Full history kept for legal audits or inspections by consumer authorities.

In Force from 19 June 2026 — The New Obligations in Detail
The Directive (EU) 2023/2673, adopted on 22 November 2023, amends Directive 2011/83/EU and introduces new and more specific requirements for exercising the right of withdrawal in online sales. From 19 June 2026, national authorities can verify and penalise non-compliance in any store, including PrestaShop.
New Obligations of Art. 11a (2023/2673)
- Electronic withdrawal function mandatory on the online interface
- Labelled with "withdraw from the contract here" or equivalent wording
- Permanently available throughout the entire withdrawal period
- Displayed prominently and easily accessible
- Must let the consumer submit the withdrawal declaration online
- Immediate acknowledgement with content, date and time on a durable medium
- The process cannot be more burdensome than purchasing
Consequences of Non-Compliance
- Period automatically extended to 12 months and 14 days
- The period does NOT expire if the consumer was not informed on a durable medium
- "Effective, proportionate and dissuasive" penalties under Art. 24
- Administrative fines or legal proceedings in all Member States
- Complaints to consumer protection bodies
- Chargebacks and payment-gateway problems
- Reputational damage and loss of customer trust

- Goods made to the consumer's specifications (custom-made)
- Goods liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly
- Sealed goods unsuitable for hygiene reasons, unsealed after delivery
- Digital content downloaded with prior express consent
- Services fully performed with express consent
