HostLens privacy policy
HostLens is a Google Chrome extension developed by BK Modules. This policy explains which data the extension handles and how. The short version: no data leaves your browser.

What the extension does
It shows the IP address of the server behind the page you are viewing, the CDN serving it, the server software and, if you enable it, the technologies the site is built with.

What the extension does not do
- It sends no data to BK Modules or to third parties. It has no server of its own.
- It makes no network requests: all information comes from the response Chrome already received from the page.
- It collects no usage statistics and uses no analytics tools inside the extension.
- It requires no account or registration.
- It does not read form contents, passwords or cookie values.
- It does not modify the pages you visit beyond adding the badge with the IP.
Permissions it asks for and why
- Read and change all your data on all websites: is the warning Chrome shows so the extension can see the IP address and headers of the page you load and place the badge. Only each tab's main response is observed; nothing is modified or blocked.
- Storage: to save your settings.
- Optional: requested only when you enable the feature and removed when you disable it: running a script in the active tab to detect technologies, and reading the cookie names of the active site.
You can disable the extension on a given domain from the panel, on every site with the global switch, or restrict its site access from chrome://extensions.
Links to bkmodules.com
The extension links to bkmodules.com from the panel, the options page and on install (quick start). Those links carry utm_* parameters that only indicate which part of the extension was clicked; they do not identify the user. When visiting bkmodules.com the website's privacy and cookie policy applies.
Changes to this policy
Should a future version change how data is handled, this page and the Chrome Web Store listing would be updated before that version is published.
